Accident Protocol
- Call Police
- Gather witnesses’ Names, Addresses, and Phone numbers
- Exchange license information of other driver(s); see checklist below
- Note all passengers, in your car and theirs; how many; male, female, children.
- While waiting for police – Do not discuss the accident at the scene with anyone other than the police.
- Write down the police officer’s name upon arrival
- Sketch the Accident and take a picture with your cell phone or camera and pan around the accident scene
- Gather other driver information while waiting for police

It’s important to know that a police report can take up to two weeks or even more to become available. The information you gather can be instrumental in aiding the claim process.
